Ros Fry (right) has two sons Matt, 12, who goes to Sir John Colfox school and Dominic, seven, a pupil at St Mary's primary, both in Bridport, Dorset.

She said: "I have seen the league tables and Ofsted report for the school. Matt goes to the one that came out worst. He chose it because it was local, his friends were going there and he was impressed by the facilities. "There are three primary schools in Bridport and we chose the one where we met the headteacher, liked the atmosphere and what we saw on the walls.

"I think schools know how to prepare for Ofsted and they only provide a snapshot of the day the inspector called," said the 44-year-old.
