Get Physical! an inclusive therapeutic PE Programme to develop motor skills By Lois Addy LDA pound;22.99

If you teach movement activities this is an excellent, simple-to-use reference book. It starts with a good summary, which directs the reader to specific lessons and tasks, and then clear diagrams and sequential lesson objectives provide a structured programme for delivery over several weeks.

The ideas are sound and inclusive.

The content is referenced to the foundation stage, but can easily be included in most games and gymnastics lessons in primary education and special schools. Although the book is written for children with specific motor problems, it provides a framework for the physical development of all pupils.

It is important that children have a rich and exciting range of experiences at primary school, and there is great potential with Get Physical to incorporate the motor objectives in a cross-curricular topic approach.

Moving away from a functional movement lesson and applying a wide range of senses is motivating for learners.

Lois Addy is an occupational therapist. Anyone who wants clear and simple guidelines to inclusive PE lessons or therapy will benefit from her expertise.
