HELP A ROMANIAN SCHOOL. Shotton Hall Comprehensive School, Peterlee, County Durham, has been sending volunteers to Alba Iulia in Romania, twice a year since 1989. This summer, together with the ambulance service, the team aims to improve the English teaching classrooms in the town's secondary school and needs books, story tapes, videos, tape recorders, art and craft materials, paint and fabric plus travel costs and the loan of a minibus-sized vehicle. If you can help, please contact: Margaret Alcock or Carol Cassidy, 0191 5862580.

The agency will organise collection and plans to send out a container in September. Details: 0181 579 9899 or Mike King, 0181 471 5631.
