Inquiries into river trip deaths

13th October 2000 at 01:00
TWO separate inquiries by police and Leeds education authority will be held into how two girls on a school trip came to be swept away down a rain-swollen beck while river-walking.

Police named the girls as Rochelle Cauvet, 14, and Hannah Black, 3, both pupils from Royds School in Oulton, near Leeds.

With half-term approaching, schools throughout England with holidays booked were today advised to double-check their travel plans and ensure they had fully understood the risks.
