Last week's Cumbernauld conference on health education was graced by a talk on "physical activity, diet and obesity in children". The speaker? Professor Mike Lean of Glasgow University.

His Eminence Cardinal Winning adorned another occasion last week, the official opening of the Pounds 3 million St Aloysius' College Junior School in Glasgow. The architects of this denominational pile? Messrs Elder and Cannon.
