International - Ties made with Trinidad

21st January 2011 at 00:00

Scotland has established links with 12 Trinidad schools, which will allow pupils to visit the Caribbean island.

A Scottish delegation visited Trinidad in November. Lesley Atkins, Glasgow City Council international development officer, has reported back on local enthusiasm for plans around the four-year period of funding, particularly the idea of involving Trinidad in Glasgow's Commonwealth Games legacy.

Six Scottish authorities, including Glasgow, have been nominated to receive a Global School Partnership grant, funded by the Department for International Development.

A delegation from Trinidad will visit Glasgow in March.
