Introduction: Less of the L-word..

4th September 1998 at 01:00
There will be less of the L-word and more of the B-word in thepages you are about to read. Literacy sounds a bit too utilitarian to be fun, while books add spice to life. 'The TES' and its monthly 'Primary' magazine will continue to cover literacy initiatives and materials all year round, but the emphasis in 'Read On' is on real live books, especially those you'll keep turning to when the National Year of Reading is long gone.

Our features highlight the official themes for this term (and some beyond), as well asevents, contacts, resources and websites. But our main message for the year is: pick up a book, and enjoy.
