Since Jackie Bolton joined Court Moor school in Fleet, Hampshire, 18 months ago, she has revitalised interest in RE Paul Sills has been teaching for 35 years but he says no one compares to Jackie Bolton, who gets this week's flowers, champagne and chocolates. "I have never met anyone as dynamic," he says. "She's a brilliant teacher, she's very creative and the kids take to her."

When she arrived at Court Moor as head of the RE department, there were no students taking the subject for GCSE. She immediately went to work building up the image ad status of RE, and within a year had an enthusiastic group of GCSE option students. Jackie continues to weave her magic and her varied approach was recently given the ultimate seal of approval by Year 9 pupils, who nominated her "the teacher they would least like to see leaving".
