The Diary applauds Birmingham MP Lynne Jones, who has suggested showing all pupils the clip from Jamie Oliver's Jamie's School Dinners programme demonstrating how chicken nuggets are made.

But that's only the start of the Oliver experience, children. If you were then to proceed to Madame Tussaud's, a new waxwork ofJamie has been programmed to repeat some of his rants about school dinners from the Channel 4 series.

The real thing was at it again this week, accusing ministers of saying "a lot of grand, headline-grabbing words" but doing very little.

Feeding growing kids on junk food was "simply unacceptable," said the one-time Naked Chef.The school food he'd seen inSouth African townships wasmuch better than the fare in inner London. Attaboy.
