Labour demands rethink of EMA cut

Shadow education secretary Andy Burnham has demanded the Government rethinks its decision to pare back the education maintenance allowance (EMA) in next week's Budget. The Coalition is "kicking away the ladders and damaging the life chances of young people from less well-off backgrounds", Mr Burnham said.
