Learn the lingo

The award-winning Modern Foreign Languages Environment website has a range of new resources.

German teachers can download material to help with teaching about "false friends", words which look like English but have different meanings in German. There is also material on synonyms in German. Both are aimed at secondary pupils.

A new listening resource helps those in the early stages of learning French. There are 10 exercises, each containing a recording of the text to play online or download, activities to accompany the recording, and a transcript. Meanwhile, Les Fantomes du Cyberspace is a ghost story with teachers' notes on use in the classroom.

Lovelingo is a set of tongue-in-cheek podcasts with romantic phrases, while "Un Peu d'Amour" allows users to create poems by typing in key words about loved ones. They can also design a page from a novel or send interactive cards.

The Learning and Teaching Scotland website was awarded silver in the 2007 eLearning Awards for the best example of supporting learners online.
