A conference focusing on the emotional and therapeutic aspects of play is being held in Gorebridge, Midlothian, next Saturday, May 19, and is open to anyone working with children, including childminders, classroom assistants and teachers.

MSP Rhona Brankin will open Playing to Learn; the two mainspeakers will be Liz Cullen of Glasgow University and Graham Shulman, a consultant child and adolescent psychotherapist. Afternoon workshops will cover storytelling, drama and play, music and play and other topics. The fee is pound;25 (pound;15 for concessions). Call Myra Henderson on 0131 271 3720.
