Learning on location

10th February 2006 at 00:00
A Butlins pilot in Skegness, due to run from November 6-10, offers a curriculum-based residential course for Year 8 pupils. It aims to cut the paperwork and eradicate fears about liability that teachers may have when arranging school trips. Its core will be a 12-module educational programme, with five modules linked to KS3 level subjects including English and maths.

Others will be cross-curricular, promoting, among others, citizenship and good health. There will also be programmes for gifted and talented children and those with special needs. The programme is based on 12 schools bringing around 2,000 pupils with a staff ratio of 1:15. Price guide is pound;99 per pupil + VAT. www.learningonlocation.co.uk;tel: 01664 568340
