TES books editor Geraldine Brennan on the inside literary track

If the Bash Street Kids are 50, think how old Sir must be. Two weeks left to see Leo Baxendale's artwork for the Beano (he created Minnie the Minx and Little Plum as well as the infamous Kids) at Gateshead Central Library (Prince Consort Road, Gateshead, NE8 4LN. Tel: 0191 477 3478). In the first draft, there were 60 kids in the Bash Street gang. Just think about it. The show closes on February 21.
