Letters extra: extend skills tests

6th July 2001 at 01:00

The skills tests for teachers have been vigorously supported by many politicians and newspaper pundits. They are clearly a great idea and as such I feel they should be extended to cover other important groups in society. Parliamentarians and editors clearly need to have a grasp of both language and data if they are to be trusted. They should take the tests, and do the honourable thing if they fail.
