Letters extra: plea for Catholic education in Bexley

Last month, parents of St Mary and St Joseph's Catholic School, Bexley, were invited to a meeting where future Catholic sixth-form provision in the borough was discussed.

The concern of both parents and pupils is that the most favoured option of the Southwark Diocesan Commission and Bexley education departmentnbsp;is the closure ofnbsp;this school with the site being used for a sixth-form college.

This would result in a highly skewed distribution of 11-16 Catholic education in the borough. As a parent governor of the school, I have set up a website www.savemojos.btinternet.co.uk for distributing information and gathering views on the subject. We would greatly appreciate your coverage for our campaign to explore solutions that will provide Catholic sixth-form education in the borough without the need to close such a valuable and established school.
