Letters extra: racism in Essex

8th June 2001 at 01:00

My heart goes out to the teacher of French who suffered abuse from students and was not supported by her school - it has been all over the news here in Essex.

On one news report, the head of the school was quoted as saying "we have never had a problem with racism in this school". For a teacher to take the situation to the courts indicates otherwise.
