London Children's Film Festival

The Barbican Centre, London EC2, and the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London SW1, have teamed up to hold this new annual film festival and the Jump Cut Young Person's Festival. Special events will include the Big Dog Show and Woof! Model Animation workshop to tie in with six Festival screenings about dogs, plus the Big Ballroom Dance!, which links to three films - Mad Hot Ballroom, Rize and Rhythm Is It! Hans Christian Andersen's bicentenary will also be celebrated with events including a Little Mermaids and Sea Creatures workshop and the Big Sing. There are separate screenings for primary and secondary schools. The ICA's Jump Cut Festival features short films made by young people aged 11-19, educational talks and practical workshops costing Pounds 3.50-pound;5. Workshops include: make a two-minute film using EastEnders characters (ages 11-16) and make a basic edit from footage shot on camera phones on the theme Boy meets Girl (ages 16-19).
