London's limits

Can you tell me the details of London weightings?

These days they are separate pay scales rather than additional weightings on a single scale. This fact might allow further scales to be introduced at some later date by a government wanting to target other shortage areas or an over supply of teachers. The exact limits of the London area are complicated: the fringe scale covers the whole of Surrey but only South Buckinghamshire and Chiltern Districts in Bucks. Schools in 19 boroughs qualify for the inner London scale, including those in Barking and Dagenham and Brent.
