Looking for a hero

27th August 2004 at 01:00
We are glad to see that teachers can be counted as local heroes these days.

Towards the end of last session, Prestwick Academy undertook a "local heroes" project which profiled former pupils who had gone on to "make a difference".

In the company of luminaries such as saxophonist Laura Macdonald, artist Peter Howson, former SAS commander Hugh Smith and others, we find one Raymond Hubbard, PE teacher.

We're sure that is why he is in the list rather than because he also happens to be a world indoor running record holder.
