Picture Poems by Michael and Peter Benton (Hodder amp; Stoughton pound;8.99) is a hit with Patricia Sealey, English co-ordinator at William Alvey junior school, Sleaford, Lincolnshire.

"This is a collection of poems inspired by a wide range of paintings and other artwork by Monet through to Salvador Dali. It begins with Leonardo da Vinci's epigraph: 'A poem is a painting that is not seen. A painting is a poem that is not heard.' Vaious poets, from Beverley Naidoo to Alan Brownjohn, have responded with more than 40 poems. A further selection of paintings, sculptures and teaching suggestions, covering many topics, gives plenty of scope for children and teachers.
