The Getting Things Done site,, by management consultant David Allen, contains a lot of free advice alongside promotional material for his seminars and products. Allan Pettie, principal teacher of IT and computing at Dalkeith high school, Midlothian, relies on it for "down-to-earth help on managing workload".

"David Allen has a philosophy of downloading all the 'stuff' we usually carry around in our heads: bight ideas, next steps, calls to make. He suggests we lay them out in action-oriented lists - and then stop worrying about them. It is much more to the point than lots of courses and books. He doesn't try to sell you a pound;100 leather personal organiser and his ideas can be implemented at whatever level you want."

pound;40 for each one we publish. Write to Love it, TESFriday, Admiral House, 66-68 East Smithfield, London E1W 1BX
