AH, SLEET, snow and sub-zero temperatures. Spring is here at last - and in its wake, like a flock of gambolling lambs, come the unions' Easter conferences.
The Diary is particularly looking forward to Harrogate and the National Union of Teachers' bash and some invigorating debate, especially on performance-related pay.
Opinions should range from sorrowful shakes of the head to calls for Blunkett's head on a pointy stick. But, the Diary can reveal, at last one NUT member - a conference first-timer at that - will defy union policy on payment by results and stand up for Mr Blunkett and PRP, however unpopular it may be. Her name is... Estelle Morris.
Yes, it turns out Estelle is a lifelong member of the biggest classroom union, though she never managed to make it to the conference when she was teaching at a Midlands comprehensive.
Pity. She might have known what she's letting herself in for.
