The University of Manchester has ousted Cambridge University as the preferred source of "employable" graduates, according to a survey of 200 major recruiters.

Edinburgh stayed at the top of the league for Scottish universities, while Sheffield Hallam University was voted the employers' favourite among the former polytechnics surveyed in the Performance Indicator Project.
