Maths correction

4th June 2004 at 01:00
One of the O-level exam questions from the 1959 Cambridge Syllabus B paper used to illustrate Barbara Ball's article comparing O-levels of the 1950s with today's GCSEs (Maths Subject Focus, TES Teacher, May 14, page 22) omitted the fractions from the original.

It should have read as follows: 1. Mathematical tables must not be used in this question.

(i) Express 2ft 5in as a decimal of 1yd, correct to three decimal places.

(ii) Simplify 33Z10 V (21Z3 - 17Z8).
