Maths - In the spotlight

United through education

Get pupils excited about English, maths and science with the Unicef World Education Games (6-8 March).

What is it?

Matched in real time with up to three other children of a similar age, pupils play against participants from anywhere in the world via their own online games centre. The three subject events - World Maths Day, Spelling Day and Science Day - each have 50 challenges.

Who is it for?

There are four age categories: 4-7, 8-10, 11-13 and 14-18.

How does it work?

World Maths and Spelling days challenge students on five levels of difficulty. For every question they get right, they earn one point. World Science Day is divided into three levels - easier questions are rewarded with one point and harder questions with two or three.

Registration is free and open now. The winner across all three events in each age group will be named the 2012 World Champion of Champions and receive a minted gold medal.

What else?

Prepare pupils for the games with online practice once you have registered. Or try Tutpup, a free online games platform that pits pupils against others in real-time maths and language challenges.
