Third year BA primary education

Came to teaching from..?

"Sixth form centre"

Best lecture so far?

"PE is one of my specialist subjects and those lectures are always really enjoyable. We had one about netball where the lecturers threw the ball into the audience to demonstrate different passes and get everyone involved."

Been a waste of time?

"Some seminars seem to repeat what we do in lectures. We could do the work as easily at home."

Inspired by?

"A teacher I met on my teaching practice last year. I covered her class and she was very supportive. I picked up some of her methods that work for me as well."

Most absurd piece of educational jargon you have heard so far?

"There was a time when I was trying to teach antonyms and I know it sounds really silly but I didn't know what they were! Turns out they're only opposites."

Can't wait to...?

"Set up my own classroom. There are a lot of things that are really needed in a classroom like colour and pictures that draw the children's attention and make them want to learn."

What made you want to teach?

"In the middle of secondary school I did my work experience at a primary school and thought then that it was what I wanted to do."

Best thing about university life?

"Going out and making new friends. Last year I had more time to go out so I came a bit early this term to catch up with everyone."
