Off-message on wealth gap;Letter

16th April 1999 at 01:00
I READ with interest your front page (TES, April 2) which points out the differences in performance between rich and poor pupils. Even worse, to those who already have more help is given. The answer clearly is a massive shift in resources towards poorer pupils. Unfortunately New Labour's answer is that if poor pupils just tried harder they would do better.

In short, your front page is gloriously off-message. More please.
