Middle years focus
The first details of the Assembly's new plans for middle-years schooling will be revealed next year, education minister Jane Hutt has said. Academics have been examining the future of teaching eight to 14-year-olds. Their report is now ready but has not been publically released, although chairman Professor David Egan has said eight to 14 should be a "discrete phase" for education. Ms Hutt announced this week that her officials would be travelling throughout Wales to discuss its findings in the new year.
