Millennium cash for family

The Pre-school Learning Alliance is set to receive nearly Pounds 2,800, 000 from the Millennium Commission over the next three years. The money will be used to create a Family Learning Millennium Awards scheme. The grants, which will be distributed and managed by the PLA, will go to projects "which strengthen family and community networks".

Margaret Lochrie, PLA chief executive, said: "This is an exciting development for us, and one which will provide opportunities for more provision of innovative schemes."
