Mind your language
Mind your own business language is a course for Years 12 and 13 organised by Central Berkshire Education Business Partnership at the Renaissance Reading Hotel, 9.30am-2.45pm. It will focus on using French, German and Spanish in business. Students will have the option of completing an extension activity after the event. Fee: pound;25 per student (CBEBP member schools), including lunch.

World Water Day March 22
In the run-up to World Water Day, the WaterAid charity is aiming to raise pound;75,000 through its buckets of pennies for buckets of water appeal.
An accompanying pack for schools includes fundraising ideas, posters, bucket stickers and balloons. Less than pound;15 will provide poor children in Africa and Asia with clean water and sanitation. Schools can also buy a Buckets of Water video.

Rebecca Vere, aged 11, from Haddenham Community Junior School, Buckinghamshire, was the winner of the 16-and-under category in last year's Visions of Science Young Photographers competition with her "Gecko in green" picture. This year's competition is now open and winners of age categories 16 and under and 17 to 18 will receive Kodak EasyShare DX7590 digital cameras and printer docks plus pound;500 for their school to spend on science equipment. Sections include action (capturing an event as it happens in the natural world), close-up, art, concepts, people (the impact of science, medicine and technology on people's lives). Closing date May 6.

Summer science scheme
Applications are invited for the month-long Bessie Lawrence international summer science scheme, which combines scientific study with exploration of ancient sites, including the old city of Jerusalem, the Dead Sea and the Sea of Galilee. The programme is offered by the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, to 12 British students who have just completed A-levels. Last year, students assisted on projects ranging from cancerous tumours to the mathematical analysis of the computer game Minesweeper.
