School closures to balance the authority's budget are back on the agenda in Argyll and Bute. In the last couple of years councillors have tried to close nine primaries and succeeded with five, but they have so far backed off from rationalisation which would have saved pound;100,000. Now officials are to prepare fresh closure plans.
