The new pound;70 million Motherwell College was officially opened by HRH the Princess Royal last week. It includes hair and beauty salons, open to the public; a 60-seat training restaurant; an early-years room resembling a modern nursery; a 55-seat theatre; and a "hangar-style" car repair workshop including drop-down equipment, engine bays and paint booths. The college, which received pound;42 million from the Scottish Funding Council and opened its doors in July, has 20,000 students and 500 staff.
