(Photograph) - Perth is now at the heart of the music and media industries - at least according to Perth College whose new "state-of-the-art" centre serving both industries was opened officially last week with a visit by former Run Rig lead singer and rector Donnie Munro of the University of the Highlands and Islands Millennium Institute. The pound;4.5 million venture was largely funded by the Millennium Commission, a principal backer of the university project of which Perth is part. The college now has "some of the most innovative equipment and performance space in the country", Mike Webster, its principal, said. Photograph: Alan Richardson
