Music - Show of 'Faith' for papal visit

3rd September 2010 at 01:00

A performance by young musicians from Taylor High in Motherwell will be shown at the papal visit on September 16.

The group of 14 S4 pupils, plus languages teacher Honor Miller, were set the task of writing a hymn by principal music teacher Fiona Cannon. The end result, which also benefited from work by music teachers John McLaughlin and Suzanne Evans, is a piece called "Faith".

A video of the group performing the hymn, shot at Carfin Lourdes Grotto, near Motherwell, and edited by school senior technician Robert Stewart, will be played on screens at Glasgow's Bellahouston Park on the day of the visit. It may also be used at other venues in Britain attended by the Pope.
