My one essential

The director of ICT at Hyde Technology School, Tameside, Greater Manchester, and a winner last year of a national teaching Plato award for the most creative use of ICT in secondary schools, showed no hesitation about electing his favourite resource. He nominated the Cruiser Laptop produced by Rock Computers (about pound;1,500).

"It's the ost useful weapon in my armoury. I've been using it for the past 18 months or so. I can prepare work as I would on a normal laptop, but the screen detaches and becomes a liquid crystal display panel for an overhead projector. When I go to do training in colleges everyone is fantastically enthusiastic about it."
