New union president

Bill Guthrie has been elected president of the Scottish Secondary Teachers' Association. The assistant principal biology teacher in Perth High will hold the post for two years.

Barbara Clark, the current president, who with Mr Guthrie failed to be elected as the union's general secretary, has been appointed to the number three post of assistant general secretary. Mrs Clark is an English and guidance teacher at Alva Academy.
