Shetland councillors last week decided to commence battle once more over school closures - for the third time in five years. Squeezed by budget pressures, admonitions from Audit Scotland and falling rolls, they agreed to consider shutting five primaries and two small secondaries (including Skerries, currently the smallest secondary in Britain, with two pupils). A final decision will be made on whether to go ahead with this latest "best value" exercise in September.
