Not for want of trying

So FE salaries are lower than in schools? True. I used to be a vice-principal in a sixth-form college so I know. But a year ago I advertised, in FE Focus, a post as director of IT in my 1,200-pupil over-subscribed independent girls' school at pound;43,000 plus.

How many applicants did I get from FE or sixth-form colleges? None.

If anyone out there wants to teach highly motivated pupils in well-resourced conditions, we shall probably be looking for teachers of psychology, economics and business studies, English and science for next September. Try us.
