Nursery horror

7th August 2009 at 01:00

I was horrified to see in The TES that nursery staff will suffer first in education cuts and that Devon has already decided to reduce the pay of nursery staff to that of teaching assistants ("Nursery jobs under threat as schools remain oblivious ..." July 24).

When will we absorb the powerful message of New Zealand educator and writer Sylvia Ashton-Warner that the early years are the substrate of all achievement and its best practitioners need to be recognised?
