NUT disagrees

I refer to "Have skill, will travel - within reason" (TES, October 31).

I am concerned that it could be read in such a way that the NUT has reached agreement with, or endorses, certain agencies where this is not the case.

The NUT has reached agreement with Educational Support Services and First Class on three key areas: payment in accordance with the Teachers' Pay and Conditions document, that teachers are employed by the local authority and are not self-employed and that proper police and List 99 checks are carried out.

This will help ensure that the education and welfare of children is protected and that teachers are treated fairly. In addition, the NUT has an agreement with Capstan.
