Offenders escape

THE National Criminal Intelligence Unit has set up a special section to trace 375 itinerant convicted sex offenders who have disappeared since their release from jail and have failed to register with the police.

Patrick Green, 33, was jailed for five years after pleading guilty to indecent assault an unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. He used an Internet chatroom to lure a 13-year-old girl to his home for sex. The judge ordered him to remain on the sex offenders' register for the rest of his life.
