Oscars for all

The teachers' "Oscars" will be expanded to cover the whole of the the United Kingdom if the award scheme proves successful in England this year.

In the first year, some 600 teachers will receive awards. The government-backed scheme is funded by private sponsors, including Lloyds TSB, which is contributing Pounds 1.5 million.
