NOT THAT the Tories are having all the fun on the publishing front - news arrives of a first for Nick Pearce, earnest adviser to David Blunkett.

Nick used to knock out the odd tome in his time at leftish think-tank the Insttute of Public Policy Research. Now, one of them - a collection of essays on, thrillingly, citizenship - has been translated. Into Lithuanian.

First communism, now the Third Way - what did they do to deserve it?
