Glennis Virgo ("Mike Kent's criticism of inspectors is outstanding", Letters, 9 March) seems over-encumbered by Mike Kent's expert recognition of several inept and inappropriate strategies imposed by successive governments. Indeed, once out of the hothouse and goldfish bowl, several views become far, far clearer.

Tim Peskett, HE leadership tutor and ex-primary head, Northampton.
