One World Publications have published A Short History of the Bah '! Faith and A Short History of Islam at Pounds 5.95 each. In the first, Dr Peter Smith, social science co-ordinator at Mahidol University, Thailand, traces the development of the religion, which is reckoned to be the second most widespread in the world, from its origins in the mid-19th century B b! movement in Iran to its global expansion to the West and the developing world.

In the second, Professor William Montgomery Watt, of the department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Edinburgh University, follows the Islamic religion from its birth among the nomadic peoples of 7th-century Arabia to its present status as a world religion.
