Pandas, thanks and all that jive

28th April 2000 at 01:00
ALMOST a third of children entitled to free school meals fail to claim them, according to minister Estelle Morris (TES, April 14).

What a surprise! Schools have been battling with this problem for some time. Each year free school meal bandings make Performance and Data (Panda) reports depressing reading for the schools wrongly placed in an upper band because parents hoose not to take up their entitlement.

I spend valuable time collecting accurate information to make sure I can prove to others the true nature of the community we serve. I do this to ensure the children and staff receive the credit and recognition they deserve.
