The Scottish Association of Teachers of Language and Literature claims Inspectorate boss Douglas Osler had the gall to dispatch its diatribe on Higher Still English, Sense and Worth, with a curt note: "Returned. Herewith."

"It is time the Minister for Education did the same thing with Higher Still, returning it to Mr Osler," quipped John Aberdein, the association's publications officer. Such a wag.
