Karin Bell, head of special education, Berkshire, has been appointed head of learning support for Reading as it prepares to become a unitary authority next April.

Don Lawson, deputy principal, Aylesbury College, Buckinghamshire, will become principal of Rowley Regis College, West Midlands, from January 1. He succeeds Bob Ensum who is retiring.

Peter Moody, head of The Buchan School, Isle of Man, will become head of Malvern College Junior School, Hillstone, in July when Roger Gillard retires.

Graham Russell, formerly co-ordinator of post-16 education, Welwyn Garden City, became secretary of the Board of Management for Methodist Residential Schools on September 1 upon the retirement of Derek Robson.
