Emeritus professor Desmond Rea, chair, Northern Ireland Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment Council, has been appointed chair (part-time) of the Labour Relations Agency for Northern Ireland.

William Winfield has been appointed head of Mill Hill School, Highgate, London. He has been acting head since last July, and has taught at the school since 1970, becoming head of modern languages in 1975 and deputy head in 1993.

Mark Perry, vice-principal of Exmouth Community College, has become head of St Peter's High School, Exeter, on the retirement of John Dobson.

Dominic Cadbury, chair of Cadbury Schweppes and of the Confederation of British Industry education and training affairs committee, has been appointed a vice-president of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
